Alright, so I've finally gotten a ref sheet up for my weird birds-who-have-hands things. xD

As you can see, it does have an ibis-esque beak, but the upper beak has extra bony growth that cause it to have a 'face-shield' type of thing. Obviously, it eventually grows into a skull shape. Young birds have a normal beak, and achieve skull-beak by their third year of adulthood. The species as a whole appears to be of a muttish gryphonic descent. They have limited tool-use capabilities, due to their hands and needful survival skills.

Like the Telaun ([link]), these birds seem to have a sixth sense concerning people's minds. Except, instead of a warning device against untrustworthy people, it seems to be a beacon, or a treat of some sort, like a salt cube for horses or deer. They may have a level of psychic ability, in order to 'feed' on whatever it is they are attracted to. Each different sub-breed is attracted to a different feeling, to the point that superstition has grown up around them, and how they came to be called Fate's Fingers. The Fingers who have blue digits are most attracted to goodness of some kind or another. Potential or already performed, the greater it is, the more of the birds it attracts. This is also true of ill intentions for the Fingers who have black... fingers. This is usually followed by severe mistrust of anyone the black Fingers are drawn to. If enough show up, usually the individual(s) are expelled from the area. Black Fingered birds are the most widely hunted.

The birds with white fingers are the most warily treated, as they are drawn to potentially huge actions or decisions in which, to the good or the bad, something great will happen. When the action or decision has been followed through, the white Fates disband, sometimes to be replaced by another sub-breed.

As a whole, the breed is rare enough so that the gathering of a sub-breed garners a lot of attention.

The males of the species have bright tail feathers of any color and have unique posession of the two extra long featers. They seem to also have the longest beak/face-plates. Females' tail feathers are usually monotonous and of a somewhat muted color. However, they are the most aggressive of the breed.

Don't ask me why I made these up, I don't know, it just happened. xD But I enjoy drawing them so much.

Um. I can't think of more. I hope you understood all that. xD

Hm. Fascinating, my friend. I need to find an excuse to do some fan work of these creatures. ^^
